LDEA Nabs Two Suspected Drug Dealers in Webbo, River Gee | News

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has taken custody of two Liberian individuals, identified as Patience Nagbeh (22) and Haja Tuore (48), following their transfer from the Webbo Magistrate Court on May 1, 2025.

The arrest came after the Liberia National Police (LNP) Webbo unit presented the suspects to court regarding an alleged debt of LRD 20,000.

During the court proceedings, one of the suspects, Patience Nagbeh, confessed that the debt was associated with an illicit drug transaction, indicating that Haja Tuore had supplied her with heroin for sale.

Upon failing to sell all the drugs, the court instructed Patience to return the remaining substances. Subsequently, the magistrate contacted the LDEA, leading to the transfer of both suspects for further investigation. It was revealed during the investigation that Haja had allegedly provided Patience with 80 wraps of heroin valued at LRD 20,000.

Additionally, it was discovered that Haja Tuore had previous drug-related incidents with the LDEA in River Gee County in 2023 and in Maryland County in 2024. Both suspects have been formally charged under Sections 14.85 and 14.89 of the Controlled Substances Act for illegal sale and possession of narcotics. They have been referred to court for prosecution on May 5, 2025.

Efforts to combat drug trafficking in Liberia are gaining traction in River Gee County thanks to the initiatives of the Joseph Boakai administration.

President Boakai, during his inaugural State of the Nation address in 2024, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to eradicating illicit drugs. The President and Vice President, Jeremiah Kpang Koung, underscored their commitment by undergoing drug testing.

Acknowledging the need for a strong stance against drug issues, the LDEA has been taking proactive measures across the country.
