Members of the House of Representatives in Plenary

Capitol Hill, May 8, 2026: The Members of the Legislature are expected to reconvene on Friday, May 8, 2026, marking the beginning of its 2nd Quarter of the 2nd Session in line with its amended legislative calendar.

The resumption follows the amendment of Section 1 of the Act Fixing Day for the Annual Adjournment of the Legislature, which establishes a structured schedule for three adjournments and recess periods, commonly referred to as constituency breaks.

According to the new Act, the first constituency break begins on the third Friday of March and ends on the second Friday of May. The second constituency break runs from the third Friday of July through the third Friday of October. The third constituency break takes place from the second Friday of December to the Friday immediately preceding the second working Monday of January.

The adjustment aligns with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Law, which redefines the fiscal year to run from January 1 to December 31, replacing the previous July 1 to June 30 cycle.

As the Legislature resumes, discussions are expected to focus on key national priorities, including economic reforms, development initiatives, and budgetary allocations under the new fiscal structure.
