Liberia: CDC Eviction – Police Arrest Ex-EPS Officer With Firearm as Demolition Intensifies

Monrovia – Police enforcing a court-ordered eviction at the headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) on Saturday arrested a man believed to be a former Executive Protection Service (EPS) officer found with a firearm.

According to police, the man was discovered inside the building, and when officers attempted to remove him, he reportedly used pepper spray against them.

The enforcement of the eviction order began early Saturday, with major structures already torn down. Among them are the CDC’s mini museum, which housed plaques, historic party materials, T-shirts, and other regalia, as well as the Muna E. Pelham Vocational School.

Officers, including mask-wearing Sheriffs, were seen using crowbars and other tools to break through the main headquarters as demolition intensified.
