Liberia: Chinese Envoy Commends Liberian Media for Strengthening Public Understanding of China

Monrovia – China’s Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, has praised Liberian journalists for helping deepen public understanding of China and strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two countries through objective and balanced reporting.

Speaking Friday at the 7th Induction Ceremony of the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) in Monrovia, Ambassador Yin congratulated the Association’s newly inducted leadership headed by President J.H. Webster Clayeh and lauded the media’s contribution to promoting mutual understanding between Liberia and China.

“It is your reports that have vividly presented China and the China-Liberia relationship to the Liberian people,” Ambassador Yin told journalists.

The Chinese envoy described the Reporters Association of Liberia as an influential media institution that has consistently promoted press freedom and professional journalism. Referring to the ceremony’s theme, “Shaping the Future of Liberian Journalism Through Inclusion, Welfare and Reform,” he said the Association continues to play a vital role in advancing responsible journalism in Liberia.

Among the Association’s newly elected officials are President J.H. Webster Clayeh, Secretary-General Blamo N. Toe, and Financial Secretary Cynthia Quinisier, all of whom, along with several other Liberian journalists, have participated in media training programs in China.

Reflecting on those exchange programs, Ambassador Yin said many Liberian journalists returned home with a better understanding of China’s development after witnessing the country’s progress firsthand.

“They found China to be quite different from what they had expected,” he said, adding that journalists have an important responsibility to pursue the truth and foster greater understanding among nations.

Ambassador Yin also noted that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which he described as the driving force behind China’s transformation and modernization.

According to him, the CPC’s achievements have been built on five core principles: serving the people wholeheartedly, demonstrating courage in overcoming challenges, pursuing continuous self-reform, maintaining independence and self-reliance, and embracing a global vision.

He cited China’s rapid industrialization, the lifting of more than 800 million people out of poverty, and significant advances in education, healthcare and social security as major accomplishments achieved under the Party’s leadership.

Responding to questions from Liberian journalists about China’s system of governance, Ambassador Yin stressed that the CPC’s leadership remains the foundation of the country’s success.

He said that throughout its 105-year history, the Party has remained committed to serving the people, strengthening internal governance, combating corruption, and advancing national development while contributing to global peace and development.

The Ambassador encouraged Liberian journalists to continue reporting on China with professionalism, objectivity, and impartiality, and welcomed more members of the Liberian media to participate in future exchange and training programs in China.

He further commended the Reporters Association of Liberia for its continued contribution to the growth of Liberia’s media sector and for promoting friendship between Liberia and China.
