The event was attended by dignitaries, faculty members, students, and local government representatives, including officials from the Maryland and Grand Kru County Health Teams.

The graduates included 21 students from the Nurse Assistant Department—16 females and 5 males—and 3 male students from the Laboratory Assistant Department.

In his keynote address, Mr. P. Lemuel Tiawon, an Eye Specialist from Maryland County, spoke on the theme “Compassion: A Pillar for Quality Health Care Service Delivery.” He emphasized the essential role of compassion in healthcare, stating that it is foundational for restoring patients’ health through both empathy and effective treatment.

“Compassion is a gentle thought that a healthcare practitioner offers to patients during their most critical moments,” Mr. Tiawon said. He encouraged graduates to be empathetic and avoid transferring personal frustrations onto patients, highlighting that patients are innocent individuals in need of help.

Mr. Tiawon also praised the contributions of health workers to society and urged the new graduates to apply their knowledge and compassion in their careers to enhance healthcare delivery.

Administrator of the institute, Mr. Emmanuel Barcon, commended the dedication of the faculty and formally conferred the graduates’ certificates, marking the successful completion of their training.
