According to Fahnbulleh, she has filed a lawsuit against Superintendent Kiatamba, Dargo, and Gray due to their refusal to recognize her as the legitimate President of CAMUSU, despite her election victory.
Monrovia – The President of the Cape Mount University Students Union (CAMUSU), Musu Fahnbulleh, has taken legal action against Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Foley Kiatamba, former CAMUSU President Mohammed Dargo, and Lawrence Gray for allegedly violating the organization’s constitution.
According to Fahnbulleh, she has filed a lawsuit against Superintendent Kiatamba, Dargo, and Gray due to their refusal to recognize her as the legitimate President of CAMUSU, despite her election victory.
Fahnbulleh explained that she was elected as CAMUSU president in August 2024 through the institution’s electoral process, defeating Edwin Golafaley in a contested election. She was subsequently inducted into office in September 2024. However, she claims that since her inauguration, her predecessor, Dargo, in collaboration with Gray and with the backing of Superintendent Kiatamba, has refused to acknowledge her leadership. Instead, they continue to engage with Gray, who never participated in the election but is being considered by them as the legitimate president.
She stated that this dispute has significantly disrupted the day-to-day operations of CAMUSU.
Failed Mediation Efforts Lead to Legal Action
Fahnbulleh further disclosed that members of her leadership sought the intervention of the Grand Cape Mount County legislative caucus, led by Senator Simon Taylor, to mediate and resolve the leadership impasse. However, she noted that Dargo, Superintendent Kiatamba, and Gray refused to comply with the caucus’s recommendations.
Due to their continued disregard for her presidency, Fahnbulleh said she was left with no option but to take the matter to the Monrovia City Court for legal redress.
“My initial intention was not to contest in the election that I won against Edwin Golafaley,” Fahnbulleh stated. “However, I decided to run after Dargo’s leadership unfairly disqualified William Dagorseh from participating in the elections, falsely claiming that he did not meet the required grade point average. Golafaley accepted the election results, but Dargo, with the support of Superintendent Kiatamba, has refused to recognize my leadership, even after the intervention of the Cape Mount caucus, led by Senator Simon Taylor.”
She emphasized that the majority of CAMUSU members who participated in the election acknowledge her as the legitimate president, but Kiatamba and his allies remain opposed to her leadership. As a result, she believes that the court process is the best course of action to resolve the matter.
Superintendent Kiatamba Denies Allegations
In response, Superintendent Kiatamba dismissed Fahnbulleh’s allegations as “false and misleading.” He stated that he does not recognize her leadership because she failed to follow the proper procedures for assuming office.
Kiatamba accused Fahnbulleh of being unwilling to collaborate with other members of CAMUSU for the collective progress of the institution, which he described as a major setback for both the organization and its members.
Meanwhile, Lawrence Gray, one of the individuals accused by Fahnbulleh, declined to comment on the matter despite multiple attempts to reach him over the past three weeks.
