CSNL praised Mr. Fadel not only for this historic initiative but for his consistent and impactful contributions to Liberia’s economy.
Monrovia – The Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL), a leading pro-democracy institution, has lauded Mano Manufacturing Company and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Asaad Fadel, for spearheading the development of Liberia’s first-ever palm oil refinery. The facility, once completed, will process locally produced crude palm oil into RBD olein (cooking oil) and other high-quality derivatives that meet international standards.
In a statement issued by CSNL’s leadership—Secretary General Francis Collins and Executive Director Sensee Kiadii—the organization hailed the refinery as a transformative investment that signals a new era of industrial self-sufficiency and value addition in Liberia. Scheduled for commissioning in November 2025, the refinery is poised to take palm oil from “seed to bottle,” reflecting Mr. Fadel’s strategic commitment to retaining economic value within the country.
“Unlike many investors who prioritize the export of Liberia’s raw natural resources, Mr. Fadel has demonstrated a patriotic and long-term vision for national development,” the statement read.
The CSNL praised Mr. Fadel not only for this historic initiative but for his consistent and impactful contributions to Liberia’s economy. Since acquiring the former Sime Darby Plantation in 2019—now known as Mano Palm Oil Plantation—Mr. Fadel has invested significantly in multiple sectors of Liberian society. The palm oil refinery is the latest milestone in his ongoing commitment to the country’s economic advancement.
Beyond business, CSNL also highlighted Mr. Fadel’s contributions to sports development, particularly basketball. As both a sponsor and head coach of the Mighty Barrolle Basketball Team, Mr. Fadel has infused passion and excitement into the sport. His hands-on involvement has significantly boosted the team’s popularity and fan base, a rare gesture for a businessman of his stature.
“The humility and dedication Mr. Fadel brings to coaching, despite his business accomplishments, exemplify the kind of leadership Liberia needs in both the public and private sectors,” the statement added.
The CSNL emphasized the far-reaching impact the refinery is expected to have: creating hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, strengthening domestic supply chains, reducing reliance on imported edible oils, and offering training and career advancement for Liberians. The initiative also promises to transform local communities by providing access to affordable, locally refined cooking oil.
In conclusion, CSNL reiterated its commendation of Mano Manufacturing Company and encouraged it to continue adding value to Liberia’s agricultural and industrial sectors. “This project is more than just a refinery—it is a bold step toward economic sovereignty and national pride. We applaud Mr. Fadel and his team for their vision and commitment to Liberia’s future.”
