Monrovia – Down Town FC have maintained its third-place position in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) second division standings following a 2-1 victory over Gompa FC.

The match, played at the Doris Williams Sports Ground in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, saw Down Town FC come from behind to secure the win.
Gompa FC took the lead in the 30th minute, but Down Town FC responded with an equalizer from Samuel Wilson in the 39th minute. The decisive goal came in the 77th minute, with Sulaman Sesay scoring to give Down Town FC a 2-1 lead.
Following the win, Down Town FC coach Jasper Kun praised his players for their skillful ball control during the game. He also encouraged them to intensify their individual training to improve further. “Our away win against Gompa FC didn’t come as a surprise, but it was thanks to our players’ skillful ball control. I’m calling on them to intensify their individual training to continue delivering results in the LFA second division,” Kun said.
With this victory, Down Town FC now have 42 points from 21 games. Their next match will be against District 17 at the Tusa Sports Ground in Gardnerville, Montserrado County.
Down Town FC’s CEO, Pokah Roberts, expressed confidence in the team’s performance, calling the 2-1 win against Gompa FC encouraging. “I continue to encourage Coach Kun and the players to keep up the good performances until our main goal of qualifying for the LFA first division is achieved. I’m calling on them to secure a win in our next game against District 17 FC,” Roberts said.
