MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has announced the arrest of a 48-year-old man identified as Joseph Wilson, who was found in possession of a large quantity of marijuana during a targeted operation in Gardnerville.
In a press release issued by the LDEA, the Agency disclosed that the arrest took place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at about 9:00 a.m. when officers from its Gardnerville Satellite Detail carried out a buy-and-bust operation.
“The operation led to the arrest of suspect Joseph Wilson, a Liberian resident of the Johnsonville community, who was found in possession of seventy-four kilograms of marijuana with a street value of six hundred sixty-six thousand Liberian dollars (LD$666,000), equivalent to three thousand three hundred thirty United States dollars (USD 3,330),” the release stated.
According to intelligence gathered by the LDEA, Wilson is suspected to be an importer and distributor of narcotics within Liberia. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the LDEA Headquarters in Fiamah, Sinkor, where he is undergoing investigation and will be forwarded to court for prosecution.
The Agency has meanwhile urged the public to remain vigilant and to assist law enforcement in the fight against illegal drugs. “We encourage citizens to report any drug-related activities by calling the LDEA Hotline at 0777-133-333,” the release added.
