Liberia: Former Montserrado Lawmaker Solomon C. George Dies at 70

Monrovia – Former Montserrado County District #7 Representative, Solomon C. George, has died at the age of 70.

Family sources confirmed that the former lawmaker passed away on Friday, February 27, reportedly from a heart attack. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the political community and among residents of District #7.

George served two terms in the House of Representatives on the ticket of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC). During his time in office, he became widely known for his outspoken nature and strong grassroots presence.

In the 2023 legislative elections, he again contested on the CDC ticket but was defeated by independent candidate Emmanuel Dahn.

In recent years, George had emerged as a vocal critic of former President George Weah, the political leader of the CDC — the very party under whose banner he was twice elected.

News of his passing came as a surprise to many. Late Friday evening, sympathizers and residents gathered at his residence in disbelief, mourning a man they described as bold, approachable, and deeply connected to his community.

He is remembered for his candor, political resilience, and friendly demeanor.
