Liberia: Health and Education Ministries Deny Reports of Ministerial Suspensions Over Asset Declaration

In official statements, both ministries confirmed that their ministers had met the asset declaration obligations.

The Ministry of Health stated that Dr. Kpoto submitted her asset declaration to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) on August 5, 2024, with confirmation of receipt.

The Ministry of Education also confirmed that Dr. Jallah fulfilled the asset declaration requirements within the designated timeframe.

The ministries expressed concern over the spread of misinformation and urged media outlets to focus on accurate reporting to maintain public trust and uphold journalistic standards. They emphasized their commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law.

The clarification comes after President Joseph Boakai’s recent suspension of over 450 government officials for failing to submit their asset declarations to the LACC.

The President’s office confirmed that these officials were suspended without pay for one month or until they comply with the asset declaration requirement.
