Monrovia, Liberia, March 6, 2025- Liberia’s Minister of Health, Doctor Louise Mapleh Kpoto, has assured the country’s commitments to optimize a resilient Health Workforce capable of delivering quality healthcare to citizens.

Liberia is currently hosting the Regional Public Service Leadership Conference on health workforce development from 4th to 7th March 2025, with participants from the Ivory Coast, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic (CAR).

The conference is being held under the theme: Advancing human health workforce through public service excellence: building resilient, and institutions for sustainable development.

Addressing the forum, Doctor Kpoto promised to institutionalize best health practices across the region by fostering regional collaboration to address health workforce challenges, such as ghost workers, absent placement, and sub-optional workforce performance.

She said the establishment of a network for the health workforce in Liberia will ensure transformative merits-based recruitment of the health workforce.

“This conference is in recognition of our common priorities, that is, the need to build a sustainable team and optimize a resilient workforce capable of delivering quality healthcare to every citizen across our region.

“Liberia is honored to host this critical dialogue as part of our commitment to addressing public service excellence and strengthening workforce development”, Dr. Kpoto added.

Civil Service Agency Director General Josiah Joekai highlighted the conference’s objectives and its potential to reshape public service institutions across the region.

“This conference is a crucial step toward building resilience and strengthening innovative institutions for sustainable development,” Joekai said.

Meanwhile, day one of the conference saw panel discussions and highlights on key challenges affecting public administration and health care governance.
