The donation benefited over 40 newborns, including some in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The supplies included soap, towels, socks, lapper cloths, pampers, and more.
Kpukuyou, a native of Margibi County, explained that the donation was her way of giving back to the community where she grew up. Born at C.H. Rennie Hospital 40 years ago, Kpukuyou emphasized the hospital’s importance in her life, despite the original building being destroyed by fire years ago. She expressed gratitude for the new hospital facilities, which continue to serve the county.
“C.H. Rennie is more than a hospital for me; it is a symbol of hope, a place that gives life,” said Kpukuyou. “Even though the building I was born in no longer exists, the legacy of the hospital lives on.”
Kpukuyou reflected on her decision to celebrate her birthday at the hospital, sharing that being with the newborns, particularly those in the ICU, reaffirmed her bond with the hospital and community.
“Coming back here grounds me and reminds me of my connection to my roots,” she said emotionally. “It reinforces my belief in the importance of giving back.”
Acknowledging the development challenges in Kakata, Kpukuyou praised the resilience of the local people. She also shared plans to launch a major project to improve the lives of both youth and elders in Margibi County.
D. Musulyn Massaquoi, Officer-in-Charge of the Kakata Health Center, expressed deep gratitude for Kpukuyou’s generous donation, offering prayers for her continued success and support for the county’s underprivileged newborns.
Massaquoi noted that Kpukuyou’s donation not only marked her birthday but also demonstrated her commitment to making a meaningful impact on her native Margibi.
