MONROVIA — The Liberia Football Association launched a four-day integrity workshop Monday to combat match-fixing, illegal betting, corruption, and other unethical practices that threaten the credibility of football in Liberia.

The workshop runs through Thursday at LFA headquarters, according to an LFA release. It brings together players and administrators from First Division clubs, along with referees and match commissioners.

The initiative seeks to strengthen participants’ understanding of integrity risks and equip them to uphold ethical standards, transparency and accountability in the sport. The release said the workshop also emphasizes fair competition and the shared responsibility of football stakeholders to protect the game from practices that undermine it.

Anthony Kokoi, the LFA’s acting deputy general secretary for administration, welcomed participants at the opening ceremony. He said one of football’s greatest assets is public confidence that matches are decided fairly on the field.

Kokoi reaffirmed the LFA’s commitment to building stakeholders’ capacity to protect the integrity of the sport. He thanked the facilitators, the Confederation of African Football, FIFA and the organizers for supporting the initiative, and urged participants to take the workshop seriously and remain committed to safeguarding the game and those involved in it.
