The move comes after a resolution passed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) during a special session on April 16, 2025, and announced on Monday, April 21, at the LPDP headquarters in Oldest Congo Town, Monrovia.
As part of the restructuring, the LPDP has also welcomed back several key figures who had previously left the party. These include former members such as Dr. Togar Gayewea McIntosh, Richard B. Devine, Sirleaf Ralph Tyler, and Cllr. Vincent Smith. All were reinstated without preconditions, a decision aimed at fostering unity and progress within the party.
Speaking at the press briefing, George M. Woodtor, Sr., Vice Chair for Press and Public Affairs, emphasized the importance of this move. “This decision was made in the spirit of reconciliation, unity, and progress,” Woodtor said. “Our party is building momentum, and the return of these stalwarts only strengthens our vision and capacity.”
Alongside Tyler’s reinstatement, the party also announced a major restructuring of its leadership. Under the new resolution, Moses Y. Kollie resumes his role as National Chairman, D. Wa Hne, Jr. becomes National Vice Chairman for Interparty & National Elections Affairs, Partisan Joseph G. Wehyee takes on the role of National Vice Chairman for Mobilization, Recruitment & Training, and Partisan Snorte Wilson Sherman is appointed National Chairlady of the LPDP Women’s League.
The party clarified that these positions will remain in place until a National Convention Committee is formed, which will organize a convention where positions will be permanently filled and possibly contested. In the interim, the NEC will remain the highest decision-making body.
Woodtor also highlighted the success of the party’s recent Homecoming Program in March 2025, which he said energized the party’s base and set the stage for this leadership reshuffling. “This restructuring marks a new chapter for the LPDP,” he stated.
