The collaboration, facilitated by the Group of 77, aims to enhance opportunities for disabled individuals within Liberia, ensuring they have access to meaningful employment and training programs.
The National Cadet Program, which operates under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has committed to reserving at least 10% of positions in its upcoming 2025 recruitment cycle for individuals with disabilities. This significant move follows productive discussions among various stakeholders, highlighting a growing awareness of the importance of equitable representation in the workforce.
On April 10, 2025, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, supported by UNDP Liberia, launched the official recruitment drive for the National Cadet Program. The initiative is designed to offer essential short-term employment and internship opportunities across various sectors, both public and private.
As part of the recruitment drive, 150 outstanding graduates from multiple counties—including Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Lofa, and Grand Cape Mount—are set to be selected for the program. Chosen candidates will participate in a three-month internship, gaining valuable hands-on experience, mentorship, and a monthly stipend of $200. The application period for this initiative runs from April 10 to April 24, 2025, and interested candidates can apply through the provided online form.
The inclusion of persons with disabilities in the National Cadet Program reflects the vision of Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, who is committed to promoting empowerment, access, and inclusion. The initiative is aligned with the broader goals of the UNDP Liberia Livelihood and Employment Creation Program, which is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree or are in their final semester of study are particularly encouraged to apply. Interested applicants can also reach out for more information or assistance via the following contact numbers: 0770491089, 0880172068, 0770301388, or 0886261339.
