Buchanan – Open Bible High School and SDA High School have emerged as champions of the 2024/2025 Grand Bassa National High School Sports Tournament, claiming the football and kickball titles, respectively.

In the football final held at the renovated Doris Williams Sports Stadium, Open Bible defeated Gorblee High School 3-0 in a dominant display. Forgive Brown scored twice, with goals in each half, while Richmond Bleh sealed the win with a late strike.
Open Bible’s path to victory showcased consistency and skill throughout the tournament. They had earlier eliminated Gorblee in the quarterfinals, but Gorblee returned to the final as the highest-ranked eliminated team.
However, they were unable to match Open Bible’s performance in the final match.

In the kickball division, SDA High School clinched a narrow 1-0 home run victory over Bassa High School, capping off a competitive tournament with a disciplined performance.
The week-long tournament brought together 12 accredited high schools from across Grand Bassa and was organized by National High School Sports. Beyond the trophies, it served as a platform to inspire youth, promote education, and foster unity through sports.
Since 2017, the National High School Sports initiative has engaged more than 150 schools nationwide, using football and kickball to drive enrollment and youth development under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.
