Liberia: President Boakai Suspends Officials for Failing to Declare Assets

Executive Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has suspended all government officials who failed to declare their assets within the required timeframe.

This action aligns with Article 2, Section 10.2(h) of the Act to Amend Section 5.2 and Section 10.2 of the 2014 Code of Conduct. It follows the President’s directive issued on November 27, 2024, which granted a ten-day grace period for compliance.

Based on a report from the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), the listed non-compliant officials are suspended for one month without pay or until they submit the required declarations.

In accordance with the directive, all suspended officials must immediately hand over government assets to compliant heads of agencies, designated personnel, or authorized representatives within their respective institutions.

President Boakai remains committed to upholding good governance, integrity, and the rule of law. He emphasizes that asset declaration is not only a legal requirement but also a crucial step in promoting transparency and restoring public trust in government institutions.

The President further warns that failure to comply with asset declaration obligations undermines national efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability. Moving forward, he assures that strict enforcement of legal and ethical standards will remain a priority of his administration.

The release notes that a detailed list of the suspended officials, as published by the LACC, can be found in the local dailies.
