Liberia: Producer of Diamond Water Clarifies Media Report Following WASH Commission’s Clearance

The business reputation of one of the country’s beverages and mineral water producing companies has been on the line in recent times amid media report that it was rebottling and selling contaminated water to the public.

Local media, most particularly, social media reported a fortnight ago that the company’s local workforce was assembling large quantities of water-filled sacks and bottle caps in an unhygienic environment.

The alarmed prompted the National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Commission to probe into the matter and discovered that the video posted on social media was fake.

Predicated upon that, the Commission officially cleared the National Beverage Incorporated (NBI)—producer of Diamond Water of all allegations levied against it.

And barely one week after the clearance, the company was awarded by the West Africa Media Network with the management seizing the opportunity to further clear the air in the fight to redeem its business reputation that nearly got eroded.

Speaking to reporters, Madam Hawa M. Ndama, Human Resource Manager of NBI, described the allegation as a planned propaganda intended to derail the good business image of the company.

Taking view of the facility, Madam Ndama furthered that Diamond Mineral Water is best in the country and as such, the propaganda was only intended to reduce its huge sale on the market and to give other competitors the leverage to compete.

“Some blackmailers, who claims to be journalists decided to mislead the public by trying to publish information about our company but thank God you guys came here to see for yourselves,” said Madam Ndama.

The NBI Human Resource Manager further urged Liberians not to give attention to the misleading publication seriously, pointing out:  “This is just a way to sway costumers away from us.”

She contended that the company has a unique history of striving to place good hygiene at the core of its operation as it endeavors to provide safe drinking water for the country.

The HR Manager has meanwhile threatened a legal suit against those journalists who decided to damage its character.
