Senator Johnson, the founding father of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), served an unprecedented three terms as senator from 2005 to 2023.

He played a crucial role in shaping Liberia’s political landscape, influencing presidential elections and earning the title of the “godfather” of Nimba County for his significant political impact.

As Kogar, candidate of the MDR, campaigns for the vacant senatorial seat, he has urged Nimbaians to rally behind his bid to succeed Johnson. “We must not allow the legacy of the late Senator Johnson to die,” Kogar said, acknowledging the ongoing endorsements he has received across the county.

The District Number Five lawmaker, who is serving his third term in office, emphasized that his experience in the legislature makes him a strong candidate to continue the work of the late Senator Johnson. He also pledged to promote unity, peace, and development in Nimba County, should he be elected.

“I am committed to bringing about positive change, and I will work towards ensuring peace, unity, and development in the county,” Kogar said. “My leadership will bring pride to Nimba County, and I will ensure that women have greater participation in decision-making processes.”

Kogar also called for a peaceful election process, urging Nimbaians to go to the polls on April 22 and make their voices heard. He reiterated his dedication to representing the people of Nimba County with integrity and respect.
