MONROVIA – The Chairman of the Rule of Law Caucus, Hon. Musa Hassan Bility, has condemned the suspension of Montserrado County Representative Yekeh Kolubah as “illegal and unconstitutional.”

On Tuesday, March 11, Kolubah was suspended for “30 session days” by the House Majority Bloc, based on a complaint filed by River Gee County Representative Johnson Williams. Williams accused Kolubah of displaying rude behavior toward the leadership of the House.
In a statement, Bility, who is also the political leader of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), called the suspension a violation of parliamentary procedures and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
“This reckless action, which defies the ruling of the Supreme Court, is yet another blatant disregard for the rule of law and parliamentary procedures,” Bility said. He further criticized the use of “session day,” a term not recognized in the House Rules, rendering the suspension unlawful.
Bility also pointed out that the vote to suspend Kolubah did not meet the required constitutional quorum. Only 32 members attended the session, while at least 49 members are needed for decisions regarding suspension or expulsion to be legally valid.
He called on the Government of Liberia to intervene, warning that the suspension sets a “dangerous precedence” that could undermine public trust in Liberia’s democratic institutions.
He also urged Minister of Finance Augustine Ngafuan not to use the suspension as grounds to withhold Kolubah’s salary or benefits, stating that such an action would violate the law.
The Rule of Law Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the crisis in the House peacefully and lawfully. Bility added, “The time to restore order is now. The rule of law must prevail.”
