The former Minister of Finance and Development Planning, elected as senator in 2023, has been a staunch advocate for quality education and healthcare in Liberia. His latest initiative, launched this week, focuses on equipping schools with educational materials and providing long-overdue medical supplies to healthcare centers.
“Today, we worked with our county’s educators and healthcare professionals in Bomboma Town and Bopolu City,” Konneh stated. “We began transforming early childhood education by making classrooms at Bomboma Elementary School more inviting for learning. Through our partnership with the Teachers Consulting Group, we launched a reading program and provided educational materials to enhance learning opportunities for our children.”
In addition to supporting education, Konneh addressed the critical healthcare needs of the county. He and his team donated assorted medical supplies and equipment to a long-abandoned clinic in Bomboma Town, a facility that had remained closed due to a lack of resources.
“All of that changed today,” Konneh announced. “Through our partnership with the Liberia Medical Mission and other friends in the USA, we have provided the necessary supplies to prepare this clinic for opening. Soon, it will be able to deliver essential healthcare services to our citizens in Bomboma and surrounding villages.”
The senator emphasized that these interventions align with his commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to deliver basic services to the people. He also pledged to replicate these efforts across all five districts of Gbarpolu County.
As part of his continued engagements, Konneh revealed that his team would visit Bopolu Central Elementary School and the Emirates Hospital in the coming days to assess further needs and provide additional support.
“We thank our county’s educators, healthcare workers, and my team for their dedication and commitment,” he said. “This is just the beginning. Please join us as we transform Gbarpolu’s education and healthcare systems, one classroom and clinic at a time.”
Senator Konneh’s initiatives have been widely praised as a proactive approach to addressing Gbarpolu’s longstanding challenges in education and healthcare. His efforts reflect a broader call for collaboration between Liberian leaders and the diaspora to drive sustainable development in the country.
