MONROVIA – According to a release from the Office of Hon. Anthony F. Williams, Representative of Maryland County’s District 2, strategic discussions have been initiated to formalize an international academic partnership between William V.S. Tubman University in Liberia and Sharda University in India.

The release stated that the high-level engagement brought together the President of Tubman University, Dr. Olu Menjay, and Mr. Yash Verma, Assistant Manager of the International Relations Division at Sharda University. The meeting was convened to establish a structured institutional cooperation framework between the two universities.
Dr. Menjay, during the discussions, highlighted Tubman University’s expanding role in advancing higher education in southeastern Liberia and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships.
Mr. Verma provided an overview of Sharda University’s institutional growth and international outreach. He disclosed that the university currently enrolls approximately 18,500 students, including nearly 200 Liberians pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies across various disciplines. He also noted that Sharda’s teaching hospital provides medical services and hands-on training opportunities for students in health and allied programs.
According to the release, key areas proposed for collaboration include teacher training initiatives, scholarship opportunities, student and faculty exchange programs, joint research, and broader academic capacity-building efforts.
The release further indicated that Mr. Verma extended an invitation to Dr. Menjay to visit India to consolidate the partnership discussions. In response, Dr. Menjay welcomed the initiative and called for the drafting and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the cooperation framework. The signing is anticipated before mid-year during his projected visit.
