Monrovia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) have arrested a woman identified as Eve Whymah and her husband after a disturbing incident in the New Georgia Gulf community, District #13, in which a little girl’s finger was allegedly cut off as punishment for an accident during playtime.

The victim, seven-year-old Georgina, had reportedly been playing with the suspect’s toddler when the baby accidentally fell to the ground.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect, enraged by the incident, seized the child and used a wooden bench to crush her finger, causing what neighbors described as a near-amputation.
Following the attack, community members raised alarm, prompting the intervention of the LNP. The suspect and her husband were swiftly taken into custody and transferred to the Zone 4 Police Depot. The LNP confirmed ongoing investigations.
Georgina, who was recently brought from Compound #3, Grand Bassa County to live with her aunt, is now receiving medical treatment at a local health facility in District #13.
“This is a horrifying case that underscores the urgent need for justice and transparency,” said a local community leader. “We call on the police to act decisively and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”
Medical personnel confirmed that her finger sustained severe damage and requires close monitoring.
In recent times, Child rights advocates have warned vulnerability of children living with relatives in urban communities. Many families, they argue, send children from rural towns and counties to Monrovia in hopes of better opportunities, only for the children to end up facing neglect or abuse.
Some Liberians are calling on the Ministry of Gender to swiftly intervene. In her message, Gayduo Princess Kennedy said that nobody is above the law.
“The Child’ Welfare Department of the Ministry of Gender for Women and Children got involved and took baby Georgina. The heartless woman was taken to jail!”
Israel Ma Paitee Parley added that the law is the law. “The people of New Georgia gulf Community fight for Justice for little Georgian and she was given the Justice that we all worked in the rain. Little Georgian has been taking to the Child Welfare Department of the Ministry of Gender for Women and Children. And the Child Abuser Eve was taken to jail.”
