Liberia’s Assistant Foreign Minister Karishma Pelham Raad Resigns From Ministry Of Foreign Affairs

MONROVIA – Hon. Karishma Pelham Raad has formally resigned from her position as Assistant Minister for International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, effective September 8, 2025. In a letter addressed to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., Raad expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve under his leadership and to represent Liberia on the international stage.

In her resignation letter, Raad described her tenure as the “highest honor” of her professional life, noting that she had dedicated herself to advancing Liberia’s foreign policy, multilateral engagements, and international standing. She highlighted her pride in contributing to efforts that strengthened Liberia’s voice within the global community, and assured President Boakai of her continued loyalty and support for the success of his administration and the prosperity of the Liberian people.

Raad’s departure marks a significant change within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been actively involved in fostering Liberia’s participation in regional and international organizations. Her resignation follows a period during which the Ministry has sought to enhance the country’s diplomatic engagements and visibility in multilateral forums.

While the reasons for her resignation were not detailed beyond her expression of personal and professional fulfillment, government sources indicate that her decision is amicable, and she leaves the post with recognition for her contributions to Liberia’s international relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to announce a successor in the coming weeks as it continues its work to maintain Liberia’s diplomatic presence and advance the nation’s interests abroad.
