A shooting incident in Banjor, Virginia, led to the death of one person on Wednesday night.
Friday, February 14, 2025/ Authorities at the Liberia National Police (LNP) say they have launched an investigation into the Wednesday shooting incident officer Boimah Massallay of the Police Support Unit (PSU) in Bokon Community, Lower Virginia, which left one person dead.
The incident occurred on February 12, 2025, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement authorities.
Officer Massallay has been placed on administrative leave by standard protocol, pending the outcome of the investigation. The LNP also engaging with community leaders and witnesses to gather additional information.
However, the LNP encourages anyone with relevant details regarding the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
According to the LNP in a press release issued Thursday, February 13, 2025, under the signature of LNP spokesperson DCP Cecelia G. Clarke, preliminary reports indicate that Officer Massallay discharged his service weapon during an encounter, resulting in the death of an individual identified as Talking Tom.
The release further indicated that the circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation to determine the facts and ensure full transparency.
Inspector General Gregory Coleman has, however, consoled the family, ordered an internal review, and assured the public of a fair and impartial investigation. “My thoughts and prayers are with the family. The Liberia National Police remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and justice. We treat this incident seriously and have initiated a prompt investigation to establish the facts. Our main focus continues to be the safety and protection of all Liberians, and we are dedicated to maintaining transparency and responsibility in law enforcement,” IG Coleman stated.
