LNP officer forwarded to Court for Bokon Shooting

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged and forwarded to court Officer Boimah Massallay of the Police Support Unit (PSU) in connection with a fatal shooting in Bokon Community, Lower Virginia

The incident, which occurred on February 12, 2025, resulted in the death of an individual identified as Talking Tom.

According to police reports, Officer Massallay discharged his service weapon during an encounter, leading to the death of Talking Tom.

Following the incident, authorities at the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Friday, February 14, 2025, said circumstances surrounding the shooting were under investigation to determine the facts and ensure full transparency.

However, providing an update on the case at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s regular press briefing on Thursday March 6, 2025, Deputy Information Minister for Press And Public Affairs Daniel O. Sandor disclosed that Officer Massallay had been disrobed and charged with negligent homicide and recklessly endangering the life of another person.

According to him, Officer Massaley was forwarded to court over the weekend to face prosecution for the crime he committed.

“The officer has been forwarded to court for prosecution in connection with the crime committed,” Minister Sandor stated.

He emphasized that the LNP’s swift action demonstrates the institution’s commitment to accountability and professionalism, reinforcing public trust in law enforcement.

“We want to assure the public that the police force does not condone misconduct of any kind. Their actions, in this case, reflect their commitment to upholding the law and ensuring justice.” Minister Sandor closed -Edited By Othello B. Garblah.
