Lpp Warns The Public Against Doing Business With Suspended Chairman Zaza

MONROVIA – The National Executive Committee of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) has sounded a warning, advising members of the general public not to engage in any business with its suspended Chairman, J. Yanqui Zaza, in the name of the LPP.

In a press release dated Monday, 24 August 2025, LPP’s NEC expresses surprise at suspended Chairman Zaza’s continuous gross disrespect of the party’s ethics and disciplinary processes, as he continues to present himself to the public as chairman of LPP despite the fact that, he’s under indefinite suspension for willfully violating the constitution of the LPP.

The LPP statement recalled that following a 15 November 2024 NEC meeting, Zaza was suspended from all representative and official duties, but the statement added that it is totally unacceptable that Zaza still goes on making public utterances, while masquerading as chairman of the party, acts which the NEC of the LPP finds objectionable, and has since condemned same in the strongest term.

“It must be made abundantly clear that J. Yanqui Zaza no longer has any mandate to speak for or represent the LPP,” stated the LPP, warning members of the public that any statements attributed to Zaza in his capacity as Chairman are not backed by the party leadership and do not reflect the official position of the Liberian People’s Party.

The statement issued by the LPP and signed by its Acting National Chairperson, Major Tamba Samukai Jr., explained that the party’s NEC has done this to maintain the integrity of its government and make sure that all forms of communication are in line with its values and processes.

“We call on all members, supporters, and the public to appreciate that only duly authorized party officials can represent the organization in an official manner,” the statement underscored, noting that the LPP remains guided by openness and accountability.

It can be recalled, Zaza was indefinitely suspended last year as chair of LPP, for what the NEC of the LPP blamed on Zaza’s deliberate undermining, obstructing and attempting to frustrate the sitting of the National Executive Committee of the party.

Furthermore, the LPP NEC revealed that it also suspended its National Chairman for his alleged unilateral action he took to make official statements and media publications in the party’s name, as well as his intrusion into the responsibilities of LPP’s National Secretariat, along with Zaza’s alleged unconstitutional attempt to remove Chairmen of County Congresses, National Youth Wing Chairman, and the National Vice for Recruitment and Mobilization.

The LPP NEC also accuses Zaza of withholding party documents from relevant party authorities, insulting and slandering members of the National Executive Committee on a continuous basis, and carrying on major party activities without an approved National Party Work Plan and National Party Budget by the National Chairman and the National Vice Chairman of Recruitment and Mobilizations.
