LPRC Concludes High-Level Petroleum Cooperation Visit to Togo | News

A high-level delegation of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), led by Managing Director Liberia Petroleum Refining Company Amos B. Tweh, has successfully concluded a four-day strategic and technical engagement visit to the Republic of Togo from May 17 to 20, 2026.

The visit was aimed at strengthening regional petroleum cooperation, technical collaboration, and downstream petroleum sector development within the ECOWAS sub-region.

The delegation arrived in Lomé on Sunday, May 17, 2026, where it was warmly received by officials of the Togolese Ministry of Energy and Mining. On Monday, May 18, the team, coordinated by Mr. Kpenglame Kpaassemo, Directeur du Hydro Carbons at the Ministry, began a series of engagements with key petroleum and energy institutions in Togo.

The delegation first visited Zeiner Corporation, a company specializing in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and propane solutions for electricity generation and industrial use. Discussions focused on LPG development, energy diversification, and prospects for future collaboration between Liberia and Togo.

The team also held discussions with Sanon SANOU, a major LPG operator in Togo, where talks were held with Owner and CEO Mr. Sanou Prosper. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Prosper reportedly expressed interest in visiting Liberia to explore investment opportunities, including the potential construction of an LPG facility.

Later that day, the delegation held bilateral discussions with COMPEL, STSL, and T-OIL in Lomé. The talks centered on petroleum terminal operations, automation systems, calibration and gauging procedures, custody transfer systems, marine back-loading opportunities, logistics coordination, and broader regional petroleum cooperation.

The Director General of STSL, COMPEL, and T-OIL, Hon. Monsieur Bacnah Michel, provided an overview of the companies’ integrated petroleum infrastructure and operations, which collectively manage approximately 244,000 cubic meters of storage capacity serving several West African countries.

Managing Director Tweh emphasized the importance of strengthening regional collaboration among African petroleum institutions, noting that ECOWAS member states must continue sharing technical expertise and building joint capacity to improve energy security and infrastructure development.

The LPRC delegation also received a comprehensive technical presentation from the COMPEL/STSL/T-OIL Group on its integrated petroleum infrastructure, marine logistics systems, automation initiatives, and regional supply network across West Africa.

Both parties further explored opportunities for technical cooperation, institutional knowledge exchange, petroleum supply arrangements, and the possible development of a formal cooperation framework, subject to approval by the relevant authorities in both countries.

At the conclusion of the meetings, the delegation toured petroleum storage and operational facilities operated by COMPEL, STSL, and T-OIL, observing key systems, storage infrastructure, marine loading facilities, and terminal management operations.

On May 19, 2026, the delegation also visited the Port of Lomé, where they conducted a tour of port facilities and gained insights into petroleum logistics, maritime operations, and regional supply chain systems.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, technical collaboration, and regional petroleum sector partnerships within the ECOWAS sub-region.

The LPRC delegation expressed appreciation to Sara Beysolow Nyanti, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, the Government of Togo, the Togolese Ministry of Energy and Mining, COMPEL, STSL, T-OIL, Zeiner Corporation, Sanon SANOU, and the Port of Lomé for their hospitality and constructive engagement throughout the visit.
