MONROVIA, September 7, 2026 — The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has collected US$954.7 million in domestic revenue for Fiscal Year 2026, bringing the government within US$45.3 million of its US$1 billion revenue milestone, Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs Daniel Sanoe has announced.
Speaking on behalf of LRA Commissioner General J. Aloysius Tarlue, Sanoe said the latest revenue performance puts the government on course to surpass the US$1 billion mark before the end of September.
The revenue update was presented during the LRA’s Revenue Performance and Policy Review Meeting held in Monrovia on September 2.
Sanoe said the collection reflects continued collaboration between the Liberia Revenue Authority, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, and other government institutions involved in domestic resource mobilization.
He said the government has also introduced new tax administration measures aimed at improving compliance, increasing efficiency and strengthening revenue monitoring.
Among the reforms is the rollout of electronic fiscal devices, which are intended to simplify tax filing, reduce delays in tax collection and improve the monitoring of commercial transactions.
According to Sanoe, the measures form part of broader efforts to build a more transparent, efficient and sustainable domestic tax system.
The latest revenue performance comes after concerns were raised over whether the government could meet its ambitious domestic revenue projections under the national budget.
With collections now standing at US$954.7 million, the government is within striking distance of reaching its US$1 billion domestic revenue target.
Sanoe said achieving the target would strengthen the government’s capacity to finance national development priorities through locally generated resources while reducing dependence on external assistance.
He added that the LRA is targeting approximately US$1.3 billion in domestic revenue for Fiscal Year 2026 and remains committed to strengthening revenue collection as a key pillar of Liberia’s fiscal stability.
