Monrovia, Liberia (March 17, 2026) Liberia’s first-ever Packaging Solutions Center, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises and improving the quality of locally produced goods across Liberia.
The facility, to be known as Liberia Packaging Solutions (LPS), will support businesses in improving the presentation, preservation, and marketability of locally produced goods to meet internationally accepted packaging standards.
Making the disclosure at a one-day SME Conference organized by the Authority, LSEZA Executive Chairman Prince Wreh described the initiative as a major step toward addressing one of the most persistent challenges faced by Liberian entrepreneurs, product packaging. He noted that many local businesses struggle to compete effectively in both domestic and international markets due to limited packaging capacity.
Chairman Wreh revealed that approximately US$675,000 has been allocated under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) to support the construction and initial setup of the facility, including the procurement of specialized packaging equipment. Once operational, management of the center will be outsourced to experienced operators to ensure efficient and professional service delivery.
The conference brought together stakeholders from the Liberia Standards Authority, Liberia Tourism Authority, Liberia Business Association, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Liberia).
A panel discussion also explored how SMEs can benefit from opportunities within Liberia’s Special Economic Zones, including improved infrastructure, industrial support services, and expanded market access.
