The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has officially deployed 35 interns under the Government of Liberia’s Young Professional Internship Program, an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP).
The interns, who were carefully selected through a competitive vetting process from high schools, colleges, and universities across the country, will serve for four months in LWSC’s five key divisions: Administration, Management, Technical Services, Finance, and Sales and Marketing.
At the official deployment ceremony on Monday, LWSC Deputy Managing Director for Administration, T. Wilson Gaye, emphasized the program’s importance, noting that it bridges the gap between classroom knowledge and workplace application. He described the initiative as vital in preparing young Liberians to play meaningful roles in the nation’s development.
LWSC Managing Director Mohammed Ali also welcomed the interns, encouraging them to embrace the opportunity with professionalism and commitment. “We are excited to have you join us,” Ali said. “This is a chance to gain hands-on experience that will shape your career paths and possibly open doors to future opportunities.”
On behalf of her colleagues, one of the interns expressed gratitude to the government and LWSC for creating a pathway that provides young people with practical exposure to public service.
The Young Professional Internship Program is part of a broader government effort to build human capacity by equipping students with the workplace experience, discipline, and skills necessary for the job market. Officials say the initiative is designed to ensure that every Liberian is given the space to contribute meaningfully to national growth and development.
