The Region-5 Office of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) has donated five thousand United States dollars’ worth of food and non-food items to three orphanage homes in Bong County.
Mr. Bill P. L. Bowulo, NASSCORP Regional Director for Bong and Lofa Counties said the donation to orphanage homes in Bong County is part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“This donation includes relief items and other essential supplies to support the vulnerable populations, particularly children, in these orphanage homes,” Mr. Bowulo added.
The NASSCORP donation covered items which included mattresses, vegetable oils, Vitae, flours, 150 bags of 25kg rice, lappers, among others.
He further emphasized that NASSCORP’s donations to three orphanages in Bong County are part of a broader effort of the entity to uplift vulnerable communities in Bong County and Liberia.
The NASSCORP Regional Director for Bong & Lofa Counties also emphasized the importance of giving back to the community, especially to children in orphanages.
He believes that the donation highlights the importance of corporate social responsibility and the collective effort to support vulnerable communities in Bong County and Liberia at large.
He further stated that the donation is in line with the Director General National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Hon. Dewitt Von Ballmoos’ vision as the entity commemorated its 50th anniversary on July 10, 2025.
The anniversary celebration marks five decades of service to the Liberian people.
However, speaking on behalf of three orphanage homes, Rev. Samuel Paye, the administrator of Mount Zion Rescue Mission Orphanage Home in Gbarnga, expressed his gratitude to the administration of NASSCORP for the donation.
He stated that the donation comes at the right moment, particularly when they are in need of the donated items.
Rev. Paye assured NASSCORP that they as Administrators of the Rainbow Orphanage, the Mount Zion Rescue Mission, and the Hebrew Children Orphanage Home will use the items donated widely.
The Mount Zion Rescue Mission Orphanage Home Administrator used the occasion to call on philanthropy organizations and the government of Liberia to emulate the good example of NASSCORP in terms of providing assistance to the downtrodden in Liberia.
NASSCORP was established in 1975, to provide social security protection for employees in both the public and private sectors.
The institution administers two key programs: The Employment Injury Scheme (EIS)-offering medical and income benefits to insured employees who suffer job-related injuries or occupational diseases-and the National Pension Scheme (NPS), which provides retirement benefits to employees and their dependents in the event of death.
