GANTA, NIMBA COUNTY – Officers of the Nimba County Detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) have arrested a 28-year-old suspect, Abraham Kamara, after seizing a large quantity of the controlled substance Tramadol during a routine search operation at the Ganta Main Border.
The arrest took place around 4:00 PM as Kamara was en route from neighboring Guinea to Liberia. Authorities reported that upon inspection, the suspect was found carrying 100 boxes, equivalent to 1,000 strips of Tramadol. The confiscated drugs are estimated to have a street value of LD$200,000, approximately USD 1,052.60.
Mr. Kamara has been formally investigated and charged with possession of illicit drugs and has since been forwarded to the Ganta Magisterial Court for trial under Liberian law.
