Record Number Of Liberians Selected In 2025 U.s. Diversity Visa Lottery

MONROVIA – The United States Department of State has announced the results of the 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, with 2,004 Liberians selected to advance in the process toward becoming permanent residents in the U.S.

This year’s figure marks a significant increase in the number of Liberians selected compared to previous years, underscoring Liberia’s consistent presence in the program.

Commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery, the DV Program is a yearly initiative aimed at granting permanent residency to individuals from countries with historically low immigration rates to the United States. Millions around the world entered the lottery for the 2025 cycle.

Beginning Saturday, May 3, 2025, entrants can check their status exclusively through the official portal: dvprogram.state.gov. To access results, applicants must enter their confirmation number, last name, and birth year.

Officials at the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia have stressed that selection does not automatically guarantee a visa. “Being chosen is just the beginning,” an embassy representative warned. “Applicants must fulfill all eligibility criteria, attend interviews, and submit required documents within the specified timeframe.”

The U.S. Green Card Office has emphasized that all visa processing must be finalized by September 30, 2025. Any delay beyond this deadline will lead to disqualification.

The U.S. Embassy also continues to caution against fraud, urging applicants to rely solely on the official State Department website for authentic updates and instructions.
