In a remarkable achievement, Thomas Tamba Bundoo a Liberia advocate has been selected as one of the 65 fellows for the 2025-2026 Community Solutions Program, out of over 12,600 applicants from across the globe. This prestigious fellowship, organized by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, aims to bring together emerging community leaders from around the world for an intensive three-month leadership development program.
Thomas Tamba Bundoo’s journey to this accomplishment is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up in a slum community in Liberia, Thomas faced numerous challenges. As a teenager, he had to fix coal pots to support himself through high school. Despite these hardships, his determination and resilience never wavered. He worked tirelessly to improve his community, focusing on initiatives that promote education, health, and social welfare.
Thomas’s past achievements are a testament to his dedication and leadership. As the Executive Director of Hope for Young People Inc., he has spearheaded several community projects, including establishing educational programs for underprivileged children, organizing health awareness campaigns, and advocating for social justice. His efforts have not only brought positive change to his community but have also earned him recognition on both national and international platforms. In 2021, Thomas was selected along with 21 others out of 3100 applicants globally the Youthlead Ambassador to Liberia, further solidifying his role as a key figure in youth leadership and development.
One of Thomas’s most significant contributions has been in the fight against illicit drugs in Liberia. He has led numerous initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse; including creating awareness and organizing dialogue on the causes, effects and preventions in schools, communities and street corners, providing support and rehabilitation for affected individuals, and advocating for stronger policies to combat drug trafficking. His unwavering commitment to this cause has made a substantial impact on the lives of many Liberians.
