Harper, Liberia – March 6, 2025– In a shocking development, 20-year-old Ruth Teah was arrested by the Liberia National Police in Harper for allegedly squeezing her boyfriend, Mr. Ezekiel Bedell’s testicles to a degree that caused severe injuries. The incident, which has left Bedell in critical condition, occurred earlier this week and has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
According to police reports, Mr. Bedell, who is currently receiving treatment at J.J. Dossen Hospital, sustained significant injuries to his testicles, with doctors describing the damage as severe. His condition remains grave, and he is reported to be unconscious and fighting for his life.
Teah, who was apprehended shortly after the incident, is currently being held at the Women and Children’s Detachment of the Harper Police Station. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
An inside source within the Liberia National Police has confirmed that Teah, in her statement, expressed confusion over her arrest, asserting that her boyfriend never filed a complaint to the police. She further questioned why law enforcement had intervened, stating that both she and her boyfriend were unaware of any reason for the police’s involvement. Teah was also quoted as saying that, since neither party had approached the authorities, they should not have been subject to an arrest or investigation.
During a brief conversation with Teah while she was detained, she confirmed that her boyfriend is indeed receiving medical attention but maintained that her arrest was unjustified. “We did not complain to the police, so I don’t understand why they are investigating us,” Teah remarked.
In contrast, Mr. Bedell’s family and medical personnel are focused on his recovery. While Bedell remains unconscious and under intensive care, medical staff at J.J. Dossen Hospital are working around the clock to stabilize his condition.
The case has already attracted significant attention, with local authorities, including Maryland County Gender Coordinator Miss Mariah Suku, stepping in to oversee the investigation. The Independent Human Rights Commission, led by Mr. Boniface Nyema, is also actively involved, as this incident raises important questions about domestic violence, human rights, and the role of law enforcement in such matters.
As the investigation unfolds, both the community and national observers are closely watching for further developments, with many calling for a thorough and fair examination of the events leading to this violent altercation.
