Paynesville, Liberia, March 6, 2025—Liberia’s Second Lady, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, pledges to improve the well-being of women with disabilities.

Madam Koung gave this assurance when addressing the 1st conference on the Status of Women with Disabilities, which was held in the gymnasium of the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

She is committed to improving the lives of people living with disabilities across the country.

“Your courage and unwavering efforts continue to inspire and renew my commitment to advocating for your rights, and rights of women across Liberia, the Second Lady says.

She notes that for too long, voices of women with disabilities have been unheard, and their struggles overlooked.

“For too long you have faced barriers to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, justice, and barriers that no human should endure. But thank you for supporting each other and for bravely speaking against injustices that have held you back for so long.”

She reassures women of disabilities and other physically challenged people here that her office will continue to stand with them to make their voices heard.

She vows to continue fighting with them to achieve their goals, saying, “Thank you for your resilience; we are here to stand by you.”

Meanwhile, the first conference for women with disabilities in Liberia was held under the theme: “Empowering Women with Disabilities, Inclusion, Equity & Action.
