Sen. Chie receives warm reception in Grand Kru

Grand Kru County Senator Albert T. Chea receives rousing reception from citizens.

Grand Kru, Liberia, April 10, 2025 – Citizens of Grand Kru County have extended an overwhelming welcome to Senator Albert T. Chie, who is currently on a “Thank You Tour” to express gratitude for his re-election in the 2023 election.

During his visit, Senator Chie aims to appreciate inhabitants of Grand Kru County for their support and to listen to their concerns.

Atty. Lavoisier Julu, Chief of Staff for Senator Chie, shared insights via mobile phone from the county on Wednesday April 9, 2025, highlighting that the citizens are grateful for the senator’s numerous contributions over the years since he took office in 2011.

Senator Chie’s ongoing projects in the county, which include clinics, town halls, school buildings, and bridges, were initiated prior to the recent elections.

According to Julu, the senator is not visiting to announce new projects but to engage with the community, inspect existing initiatives, and consider citizens’ proposals.

“The Grand Kru County Senator is often referred to as the ‘Political Godfather’ of the county, recognized for his generosity towards the people of Grand Kru and the broader Southeastern region of Liberia,” Julu remarked.

He emphasized that Senator Chie remains committed to addressing the needs of his constituents, contrary to the common practice of elected officials abandoning their projects post-elections.

Senator Chie is known for his legislative efforts, including advocating for several constitutional amendments intended for national referendum. Notably, these proposed amendments aim to address citizenship issues, reduce terms for senators and representatives, and adjust election dates and complaint resolution timelines.

Citizens have also expressed pressing concerns about deteriorating road conditions ahead of the rainy season, which could lead to increased prices for commodities in Grand Kru County.

Julu confirmed that the senator’s “Thank You Tour” is intended to gather insights from the community rather than to critique the government of President Joseph N. Boakai.
