Speaking on October 17, 2026, at the graduation ceremony of over 100 participants in a Digital Literacy and ICT Skills Training Program in Gbarnga, Senator Moye emphasized that digital technology remains essential to boosting economic productivity, modernizing public services, and expanding access to education and healthcare.

The Bong County lawmaker cautioned graduates against the misuse of digital platforms, particularly social media, pointing out that misinformation and misleading content remain widespread online. He encouraged participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to foster innovation, efficiency, and sustainable progress across Liberia.

According to Senator Moye, young citizens equipped with digital competencies can significantly contribute to the nation’s economic expansion by lowering transaction costs, streamlining business operations, and driving overall productivity.

The senator further highlighted that advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have unlocked new avenues for students and professionals to enhance learning, research, and technical innovation. He also underscored technology’s power to transform public administration through digital identification systems, electronic health records, and online tax and licensing platforms, which enhance governmental efficiency and transparency.

Additionally, Senator Moye noted that digital literacy provides individuals with a broader understanding of global cultures, financial systems, and international trends before traveling or conducting business abroad.

“That is what digital literacy is about—not to use it to your own disadvantage, and not to spend time watching materials that do not contribute to your personal growth and learning,” Senator Moye stated. “The knowledge you have gained should be used for Mama Liberia. We did not sponsor this training for people to go online and bully others. That is not the purpose of the program.”

Pledging continued support for youth-focused digital skills initiatives, Senator Moye affirmed his commitment to empowering young Liberians. He observed that under the administration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, education and technical vocational training have received renewed priority and resources, including allocations from county development funds.

However, the senator acknowledged that rapid digitalization brings notable challenges, including cybercrime, high internet costs, and persistent digital divides in marginalized communities. He stressed the urgent need for robust cybersecurity infrastructure, comprehensive legal frameworks, and expanded digital network capacity to protect citizens against cyber threats, data theft, and online fraud.
