Monrovia, Liberia –The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, has
reinforced her support for locally produced rice by placing an order for 130 bags of “I Love Liberian
Rice,” a product of the Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP).
The commitment was made following a meeting with CHAP’s Chief Executive Officer, Bishop Robert S.
M. Bimba, at the Liberian Senate.
The engagement centered on strengthening domestic agricultural production and reducing Liberia’s
reliance on imported staple foods.
Senator Karnga-Lawrence commended the quality and professional packaging of the rice, noting that
maintaining high standards is critical to building consumer confidence in locally produced goods.
She also reaffirmed her support for CHAP’s expansion efforts in Grand Bassa County, emphasizing the
importance of creating more opportunities for local farmers and improving rural livelihoods.
The move highlights growing confidence in Liberia’s domestic rice sector and underscores the role of
agriculture in advancing food security and economic sustainability.
CHAP continues to promote increased local production, positioning Liberian-grown rice as a competitive
alternative in the national market.
