Sinoe Superintendent Peter Nyensuah Resigns Amid Pressure Over Poor Performance

GREENVILLE, SINOE COUNTY – Peter Wleh Nyensuah has officially resigned as Superintendent of Sinoe County following what credible Executive Mansion sources describe as mounting pressure from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai over persistent underperformance and administrative shortcomings.

Although publicly framed as a voluntary resignation, insiders say Nyensuah was asked to step down after a comprehensive performance review exposed serious governance failures. The decision, reportedly finalized late Monday evening, reflects growing discontent among residents and the national leadership with his stewardship of the county.

Nyensuah’s time in office was marked by delays in infrastructure development, especially road construction in Greenville District and surrounding communities, despite budgetary allocations. His administration came under intense scrutiny in mid-2024 when allegations of mismanagement of the County Development Fund (CDF) triggered an investigation by the General Auditing Commission. Preliminary findings reportedly revealed irregular procurement practices and a lack of proper financial oversight.

His resignation aligns with President Boakai’s broader “ARREST Agenda,” focusing on Accountability, Reconciliation, Rule of law, Education, Sanitation, and Transparency, a framework that increasingly emphasizes performance metrics for local officials.

“The resignation of Hon. Nyensuah should be seen as part of a broader effort to clean up inefficiencies in local governance,” said Daniel K. Moore, a Monrovia-based political analyst. “This may just be the beginning of more changes as the President pushes his administration’s performance-based agenda.”

Nyensuah’s appointment in 2024 had already raised eyebrows among some local leaders and civil society groups who questioned his experience and capacity to lead. Throughout his tenure, he faced periodic protests, citizen petitions, and repeated calls for his removal.

The Executive Mansion has not yet issued a formal statement, but sources indicate that the President is reviewing a shortlist of candidates believed capable of restoring public confidence and driving development in the county.
