Stevquoah Named By President Boakai As New Minister Of State For Presidential Affairs

MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has nominated Honorable Samuel A. Stevquoah to serve as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs following the passing of Honorable Syvester M. Grigsby.

According to an Executive Mansion press release issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025, and signed by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula Bonah Nyei Fofana, the appointment stresses the President’s resolve to ensure strong leadership at the highest levels of government. The statement described the move as “a critical appointment [that] highlights the President’s commitment to ensuring dynamic, effective, and principled leadership at the highest levels of government.”

The release further stated that the nomination, which awaits confirmation by the Liberian Senate, “marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, ensure continuity, and promote a culture of service, accountability, and national unity.” Pending the Senate’s return from recess, Hon. Stevquoah has been authorized to act in the role, ensuring continuity in the administration of presidential affairs.

In his communication to the nominee, President Boakai expressed confidence in Stevquoah’s ability to carry out the duties with distinction. “It is my firm expectation that you will discharge the duties of this high office with dedication, professionalism, and loyalty to the Republic. The role you are assuming is central to the coordination of the affairs of the Presidency and I am confident that you will bring to it the integrity, judgment, and commitment required,” the President said.

The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs is regarded as a central figure in the executive branch, tasked with coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Presidency, advising the President on policy, ensuring communication across ministries, and representing the President in intergovernmental and diplomatic forums.

Hon. Stevquoah brings extensive experience to the position, having served in both government and the private sector. He previously worked as Chief of Office Staff throughout the twelve-year tenure of then Vice President Boakai, where he earned a reputation for integrity, strategic thinking, and dedication to national development.

With a background in administration and public policy, Stevquoah has long been involved in initiatives that promote good governance, strengthen the rule of law, and encourage inclusive participation in Liberia’s democratic process. His leadership style, described as collaborative and principled, is expected to support the effective management of the Presidency as President Boakai seeks to consolidate his governance agenda.

President Boakai congratulated the nominee and wished him success as he assumes this crucial role in service to the Liberian people.
