MONROVIA – Abdullah L. Kamara, the suspended Acting Chairman of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), has publicly responded to his suspension by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, emphasizing his readiness to cooperate fully with ongoing investigations and calling for swift and impartial legal scrutiny.
In a statement released on July 1, 2025, Kamara addressed Liberians directly, welcoming the President’s decision to initiate a transparent inquiry following allegations tied to a 2023 project. Kamara clarified that the controversy stems from a contract awarded before his tenure as Acting Chairman, involving Tamma Corporation, a company he founded. He stressed that he did not award any contract to himself or his company during his leadership of the LTA.
“The issue raised by the General Auditing Commission concerns a project awarded prior to my tenure,” Kamara explained. “At the time, I was a private businessman offering legitimate services contracted under standard terms. While I am prepared to provide full details about my company, I cannot speak to decisions made by previous leadership.”
Kamara described his time at the LTA as one marked by integrity, efforts to expand telecommunications access, and a commitment to fair regulation and innovation benefiting all Liberians, especially youth. He asserted that his public record is open and verifiable and expressed a strong desire to clear his name and protect his reputation amid public discourse surrounding the suspension.
The suspended chairman thanked President Boakai for his leadership and commitment to accountability, reaffirming his respect for the executive authority and the importance of maintaining public trust in national institutions. He called on the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and the Ministry of Justice to investigate the allegations swiftly and without political interference, underscoring the principle that justice delayed is justice denied.
Kamara framed his call for an investigation not only as a legal obligation but also as a moral and ethical duty. He emphasized the importance of the independence and credibility of Liberia’s integrity institutions, noting that their effectiveness is essential to strengthening democracy and governance.
“I reaffirm my willingness to fully cooperate with the LACC, the Ministry of Justice, or any competent legal authority in pursuit of the truth,” Kamara said. “Liberia deserves public servants who stand before the law and institutions that operate without fear or favor.”
Kamara concluded his statement by urging that the investigative process proceed fairly and without prejudice, respecting the presumption of innocence guaranteed to all Liberians under the law.
