Orange Liberia is set to officially dedicate its newly built, state-of-the-art headquarters on Thursday, May 15, 2025 — an architectural and technological landmark situated on 16th Street in Sinkor, Monrovia.

Orange Liberia Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jean-Marius Yao, who spoke at a pre-launch press conference on Monday, reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Liberia under the bold theme: “This is Home, the Future is Here.”

He described the building as a bold symbol of Orange’s long-term commitment to Liberia and a beacon of digital transformation and inclusive development.

Quoting Eleanor Roosevelt, Mr. Yao began his remarks with inspiration: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” He said, “We dreamed it, and with the support of everyone, we’ve made it.” He welcomed media professionals, stakeholders, partners, and employees to what he termed a “historic day” for Orange Liberia.

According to Yao, Icon 16 is far more than just a building. “This is the embodiment of a vision — our belief in the future of Liberia,” he said. With the theme “This is Home, The Future is Here,” Mr. Yao emphasized three fundamental reasons behind the establishment of the new headquarters.

Firstly, he said the Orange Icon City stands as a symbol that Liberia deserves and can showcase infrastructure of the highest international standards. “This is more than just a building — it is a source of national pride. A place that says to every Liberian: yes, it is possible,” he declared.

Secondly, Yao noted that the new facility represents Orange’s commitment to be a long-term partner in Liberia’s development. He explained that the new headquarters is aligned with Orange Liberia’s vision and the Orange Group’s Africa-wide ambition to lead digital transformation, foster sustainable innovation, and promote inclusive growth.

Thirdly, he highlighted the people-centric focus of the investment. “Our employees and our customers are our greatest assets,” he noted. “That’s why Orange Icon City was created as a world-class hub for collaboration, innovation, and growth.” The building will serve as a workplace for over 400 staff, bringing them under one roof to foster collaboration and innovation in service delivery.

Mr. Yao shared key features of the new structure, including Liberia’s largest smart store, seven digital training rooms, a high-tech ballroom, a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of Monrovia and the Atlantic Ocean, an auditorium, a wellness gym, medical clinic, cafeteria, and innovation showrooms. He also announced that the building is an eco-conscious facility, designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind. “Soon, it will be solar powered and fully LED-lit,” he added.

Highlighting the company’s economic contribution, Mr. Yao revealed that since 2016, Orange Liberia has paid over US$291 million in taxes and invested more than US$250 million in network and infrastructure across the country. He noted that the company has been recognized three times by Ookla as the fastest and most widespread mobile network in Liberia.

Orange Liberia’s impact extends beyond telecom services. Mr. Yao said the company is a leader in digital financial inclusion through Orange Money, supports electrification through Orange Energies, and is deeply involved in community development via the Orange Liberia Foundation. “We are proud to breed social inclusion and give back to communities, supporting projects in health, digital education, and culture,” he stated.

Reflecting on the company’s evolution from CELCOM to Orange in 2017, Mr. Yao said this year marks their 8th anniversary under the Orange brand. “From Bypass to 13th Street and now to “Icon 16” — each move marks a new chapter in our story,” he said, describing Icon 16 as both a milestone and a launchpad for future growth.

He extended gratitude to the Government of Liberia, regulatory agencies, the Orange Group, and Cap Realities — the construction partner — for their trust and professionalism. “To our teams — engineers, designers, project managers, and all staff — you are the soul of this achievement,” he praised.

In closing, Mr. Yao reaffirmed Orange’s commitment to Liberia, announcing that over the next six years, the company plans to invest an additional US$200 million to further expand its services. “We believe in Liberia, we believe in its youth, we believe in its entrepreneurs, we believe in its future. Let us grow together. Let us build the future together,” he concluded.

Also speaking at the event was John Stewart, Orange Liberia’s Human Resource Services and Remuneration Manager. He said the new headquarters is more than a physical structure — it is “a tangible representation of our growth, and a testament to the relentless dedication of every member of the Orange Liberia and Orange Humanitarian family.”

He added, “In the coming days, you will not only witness but still work with us to inaugurate our new office — a space designed not just to host our operations but to inspire excellence, foster collaboration, and propel our vision to be the preferred Liberian multi-service operator.”
