Monrovia, Liberia (2 September 2025) – On Friday, September 5, 2025, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s (UNIDO) GROW-2 Project, funded by the Swedish Embassy in Liberia, will host one of a series of Grow-2 Farmers’ Markets at Invincible Park, Monrovia. These markets are part of the GROW-2 Project’s ongoing initiatives to empower smallholder farmers, strengthen local supply chains, and stimulate economic growth across Liberia.
The Grow-2 Farmer’s Market series provides a dynamic platform for farmers to showcase and sell their products directly to consumers, fostering income generation and employment opportunities. The initiative aligns with Liberia’s renewed focus on agriculture, which has seen increased government investment in 2025, rising from US$4.4 million in 2024 to over US$15 million this year, according to recent reports.
“This market series is a vital step in supporting Liberia’s farmers and advancing economic growth,” said Dr. Charles Sackey, the Chief Technical Advisor of GROW-2.
“It provides an inclusive space for farmers, buyers, and partners to connect, trade, and exchange knowledge, highlighting the country’s agricultural potential,” he said.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and value-added products, alongside opportunities for networking and strategic partnerships. The markets also showcase Liberia’s expanding agribusiness sector and the growing capacity of local farmers to meet domestic demand.
