GREATER NOIDA, INDIA – The University of Liberia (UL) and Sharda University deepened their longstanding academic collaboration as UL’s delegation, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Agnes Reeves-Taylor, participated in Sharda University’s 2025 International Graduation Convocation on Saturday, June 21.
Dr. Ashok Daryani, President for International Relations of the Sharda Group of Companies and Sharda University, warmly welcomed the Liberian delegation upon their arrival at the university’s Knowledge Park III campus in Greater Noida. The visit marked a milestone in the four-year academic partnership between the two institutions, with the University of Liberia recognized as one of Sharda’s most active global partners.
The 2025 graduation ceremony was particularly meaningful for UL, as 29 Liberian students, among them five UL sponsored teaching assistants and staff, earned advanced degrees across various disciplines. Their achievement underscores the growing academic exchange and professional development fostered through the partnership.
During their official visit, the UL delegation received high-level courtesy and was hosted in the office of Dr. Daryani. In attendance was Prof. Dr. Josephus Gbala-hinnih Moses Gray, a UL faculty member and Sharda University’s Ambassador to Liberia. Dr. Gray, who previously served as a visiting professor at Sharda from October to December 2024, also teaches part-time in Sharda’s Department of Political Science within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The leadership of both universities held open and constructive discussions focused on enhancing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2022. The conversations reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation and explored new areas for mutual benefit, including expanded faculty exchange, student scholarships, joint research, and institutional capacity development.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured Sharda University’s modern academic and hospital facilities. Prof. Dr. Reeves-Taylor also delivered remarks at the graduation convocation, during which she conveyed greetings on behalf of UL President Dr. Layli Maparyan and emphasized the significance of the collaboration in advancing higher education in Liberia.
Prof. Dr. Taylor extended special thanks to Mr. Sachin Saini and other Sharda officials for the hospitality shown throughout the visit. She also held a dedicated session with UL-sponsored graduates and later met with the broader community of Liberian students in Greater Noida on Monday. The students expressed appreciation for the visit and asked that their gratitude be relayed to Dr. Maparyan for the university’s continued support.
The visit stands as a reaffirmation of UL’s commitment to international academic engagement and the pursuit of excellence through meaningful partnerships.
