MONROVIA, August 21, 2026 — The United States Coast Guard has begun a two-week Small Boat Operations (SBO) training course for personnel of the Liberian Coast Guard in Monrovia.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Liberia, the training is intended to strengthen the capacity of Liberian Coast Guard personnel in essential small-boat handling and maritime operations.
The course covers the safe mooring and unmooring of boats, engineering casualty control, man-overboard recovery and responses to emergency situations at sea.
Participants are also receiving practical training aimed at improving their ability to operate small boats safely and effectively under challenging maritime conditions.
The U.S. Embassy said the training reflects the longstanding partnership between the United States and Liberia and underscores both countries’ commitment to strengthening maritime security and safety in the region.
