USA-Based Lofa Group Donates to Tellewoyan Hospital | News

The Lofa County Association of Georgia in the United States has donated 25 mattresses to Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in a humanitarian gesture aimed at improving patient care and supporting healthcare delivery in Lofa County.

The donation underscores the association’s continued commitment to giving back to communities in Lofa County despite its members residing abroad. According to the group, the initiative reflects the enduring bond between Liberians in the diaspora and their homeland and forms part of its broader efforts to contribute to community development.

Association officials expressed hope that the mattresses will enhance patient comfort and ease some of the hospital’s pressing logistical challenges. They also encouraged other Liberian diaspora organizations to undertake similar humanitarian initiatives that positively impact healthcare, education, and community welfare across the country.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting development projects that improve the quality of life for residents while strengthening ties between Liberians living abroad and their local communities.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, Administrator Madam Arthureen Tina Nessian described the gesture as both timely and significant.

“We are happy to receive these mattresses because we are out of mattresses and we were just talking about buying new ones. You brought these mattresses at the right time. On behalf of Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, we want to say many thanks to the Georgia Lofa group based in the Americas,” Madam Nessian said.

Medical Director Dr. Christopher Dike also praised the association for what he called a timely intervention at Lofa County’s largest referral hospital.

He noted that the additional mattresses will improve patient comfort and strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare services to residents of the county and surrounding communities.

Patients receiving treatment at the facility likewise expressed gratitude for the donation, offering prayers for the continued success and generosity of members of the Lofa County Association of Georgia.

The contribution is expected to improve patient care by providing additional bedding for hospitalized patients while highlighting the increasingly important role Liberian diaspora organizations continue to play in supporting national development, particularly in the health sector.

Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital serves as the principal referral hospital in Lofa County, providing healthcare services to thousands of residents. The donation comes at a time when many public health facilities across Liberia continue to face resource constraints, making diaspora-led interventions an important complement to government efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery.
