MONROVIA, July 3, 2026 – Edith Hage, widow of the late Lebanese businessman Milad R. Hage, has called on the Supreme Court of Liberia and the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) to investigate and disbar Cllr. Arthur Johnson over allegations that he attempted to influence jurors in an ongoing estate dispute involving her daughter, Nohad Hage Mensah.
The call was made in a press release issued by Madam Hage, who described the alleged conduct as a serious threat to the integrity of Liberia’s judicial system.
According to the statement, Madam Hage alleged that Cllr. Johnson improperly attempted to influence jurors handling the estate case, an act she said undermines public confidence in the administration of justice. She urged the country’s legal authorities to investigate the allegations and impose disciplinary measures if the claims are substantiated.
“No lawyer should be allowed to corrupt the judicial process and walk away without consequences,” Madam Hage said.
The dispute centers on the estate of the late Milad R. Hage, which Madam Hage said includes more than 200 commercial properties in Red Light, Kakata and other locations.
She maintained that her daughter, Nohad Hage Mensah, is the eldest child of the deceased and holds the oldest deed relating to the estate.
Madam Hage further alleged that another party identified as Oumou has controlled 86 shops and other estate properties since 2015 but informed the court that only three properties remain. She called for a comprehensive audit and full accounting of the estate before the case is concluded.
The statement also criticized the pace of the judicial proceedings and urged the Judiciary to ensure that the matter is handled fairly, transparently and in accordance with the law.
The allegations contained in the press release represent the claims of Madam Hage and have not been independently verified.
As of publication, there was no immediate public response from Cllr. Arthur Johnson, the Judiciary, or the other parties named in the statement.
